Acceptance that people change is the biggest gift life has given me

People often ask me, when are you coming home?

When are you coming back to real life?

I look around and wonder how did all these fake trees, birds, and people get here?

Choosing a life that does not fit the stereotype of what someone thinks my life should be. Does this mean I must abandon ship and go back to life as everyone else says I should?

A life that almost broke me. A life of constriction, addiction, and depression, a life that I was slowly dying, and you were ok with it because it meant we were the same?

I choose to live a life that very few understand — a life of adventure, exploration, and tranquility.

A life that only existed for me when I stepped into the unknown and released the shackles I had placed there years before. I took the key from my wrist, undid the lock, and never looked back.

Those who think that I must return home, I say I am home. Wherever I may roam, this is my home.

I honor your decisions without question. I have accepted that you chose a life I would…
