Are You Better Than Me Because You Make More Money?

I used to be unhappy with a lot of money (for me, maybe not for you), now I am happy and have less money. Is there a correlation?

Since I moved to Colombia, I have noticed how a lot of gringo’s and ex-pat’s talk about money. They mention how cheap it is to live here and how their life is way better than their home country. This is all true. We come to a less expensive country, and we bring our USD.

It is suitable for the economy of the country we live in, and it helps those who rent air bbs. Those mom-and-pop shops that we frequent. The taxis we take and the users we ride.

However, I have noticed one thing in the ex-pat community that disappoints me a lot. We being from the US, are so used to looking down on those who do the “little jobs.” Those who drive for uber or drive a taxi. The mom-and-pop shop that runs their business out of their house.

As a nurse I have also experienced this first hand in the USA.
