The other day, I went to Andes, a small mountain town in the Antioquia region of Colombia. The city was about two hours and thirty minutes from Jericó, where I live.

I had initially wanted to visit this town because I read somewhere that it was also a Heritage town. A Heritage town in Colombia is described as a town that has been well-preserved architecturally, historically, and culturally.

It is not a Heritage town.

Instead, it is a mini Medellín, sort of. I went there with a friend who needed to take care of some paperwork at what we would call the DMV.

People go to Andes to do things you can do in Medellín but can do much more straightforward in Andes since it is a small town.

To reach the Andes from Jericó, we took the Chiva. If you are unfamiliar with a Chiva, imagine an old school bus, but broader and without windows.

That is a Chiva. 👇👇👇

It was the most uncomfortable two-and-a-half hours of travel I have ever had. Plus, we left at 7 am, and traveling through the mountains was beautiful and cold.
