Do Labels Inhibit Growth Or Are They Used To Prevent Honesty With People?

What labels do you have?

Labels are messy

Labels remind me of when I went to AA. Hi, my name is Sara and I am an alcoholic. This is the one label I hate the most. It is not true.

We should not be labeled. When you are labeled, it signifies that you cannot change.

Then placed into a box with that specific label affixed. Hi my name is Pablo and I am shy, Hi my name is Doris and I am extroverted.

Why can’t I say: My name is Sara. Ok, you can argue that even having a name is a label. True. I am human.

One could say with labels comes judgment and stereotypes.

We love labels, don’t we?

If you voted for Trump, you are a Republican, “racist”, or “hardcore conservatist”.

If you voted for Biden, you are a “Democrat”, “liberal”, some may say “too woke”.

Not only are the above labels, but judgments, and stereotypes. That the “masses” have decided is accurate depending on who you voted for.
