As December marches on, so does the coffee harvest, festivities in town, and the music of December, Vallenato.

December in Colombia is one of the most beautiful months. I know every month is gorgeous: clear blue skies, an occasional thunderstorm, and the night sky full of stars.

As well as everyone seems to have that ¨Christmas Cheer¨. Maybe because the harvest is going well, and by January, their pockets will be full of cash.

The bar up the road has been busier than ever since tourists arrived in Jericó. I told my partner I bet he would make enough money in December to keep him open all year round.

Until this month, the place sits empty. We had a drink there once, and we were the only patrons.

The Chiva has driven by our house a few times this week, and it is full of tourists waving and smiling. The neighborhood houses are all decorated for the holidays, and the first two holidays have come and gone.

Our candles, the only decoratin we have had all season! Photo by author.
