How Can A Grown Woman Still Get Anxiety Being Social

Can I blame the language barrier?

Friday night, we went out into the town. The Spanish school, my boyfriend, works at has a language exchange on Friday nights.

Sounds fun, right? It is fun when you are having a beer and loosening up. However, I am not having a beer, and being the girlfriend of their teacher can be stressful for me.

I have a sister who is great at socializing; her husband and I often talk about how he needs her to go to things because he is like me. He says, “I don’t know what to say to these people outside of work.”

Let me tell you he is in sales, he is a “people” person, but that is his job.

On the other hand, my sister can walk into a room full of business people and charm the pants off every one of them and by the end of the night be in charge of three charities and have all the wives as her new best friends.

It’s just her nature.

While her husband and I are sitting in the corner talking about how we have no idea how she does it, we are glad to have her. So we would sit there, get drunk, and chill; usually, if this were a family event, it would also include my other sister and brother; none of us are like my sister.
