How writing has helped me to remove the masks of inauthenticity

An unexpected side effect

Before I was a writer, I was a YouTuber. I am a horrible YouTuber and got sucked down the rabbit hole of “how to be a good YouTuber,” “what equipment do you need,” “how to stand out.”

Since this happened, I never really filmed how or what I wanted. Honestly, it was overwhelming. It is easy to compare ourselves to others, especially in video.

I see how they film, what they leave out, what they edit in, and to be honest, I wanted no part of deceiving my audience. I know what you think it’s not deception; it’s editing.

I get that, except most of it is fake, and you will only see what we want you to see because of editing. Since I have started writing, my youtube channel has gotten more raw and unedited.

Maybe that isn’t nice, and I will not grow except it is growing. I used to spend hours on a video; now I do my thing, make sure it’s not awful, and post it.

I will give this credit all to me starting my writing journey in September. Writing I can edit too. I can make the words into complete sentences that do not sound like a two-year-old wrote this; thank you, Grammarly.
