I always loved sitting at the bar too.. for all of the reasons you listed, especially the drama, and seeing what was going on behind the scenes!!

Even now I dont drink, if i go to a bar for a coffee or soda.. i still sit at the bar... and always wondered how people could choose a table over a barstool!! But i used to wait tables and tend bar and i always loved talking to everyone at the bar!
