I love the rain
When I moved to Colombia, I got used to the nightly rains. Then someone told me it was because it was a rainier year than usual.
That point was proven when there was less rain the next year I lived here.
Yet I wonder if it is because I was in a different part of the country or if it was a drier year. Here, there are no right or wrong answers and too many microclimates. So, who knows?
Then I moved to Jericó, which I now call home, and it again rains almost every night.
I often get asked about the seasons here in Colombia. I don’t know what to say; we have a rainy and dry season.
We are in the dry season, and it has rained the past four nights. It does not just rain; it downpours with thunder and lightning.
As I write this, I hear rolling thunder outside my window, and shortly after, the thunder comes a bolt of lightning. Every night, I unplug my electronics because we also do not have lighting rods, and it is common for the lighting to fry all the electronics.
I have used more power cords than I ever imagined since moving here, so I have a new habit of unplugging anything when it rains.
