I moved to the north when I was 13.. that is when the trouble started.. I love living in kentucky.. i fit in, i had the same accent, my friends were all mixed race, and being half jewish i felt like we all were different.. it was perfect. When i move to the north the kids were mean, racist and bullies. anything that was different was wrong, including my accent.

My brother married a mean girl from school.. shes still a mean girl and her sister too.. the area i went to high school is one of the worst places i have ever lived/visited. I hate going to this day. Different is bad, and not accepted. I went to a soccer game for my nephew, and the moms just looked at me like who is she, not one person spoke to me. this was over the summer!!

outsiders=threats to their small sheltered worlds, oh and my sister in laws sister wont let her husband talk to me, she is convinced i want him.. its all kinds of fucked up.

My roomate was similar to you, she came out living with me in LA, but her hometown she was so quiet and that was why also. Once she came out, it was like she blossomed, really incredible to watch how she changed into her true self.. she also drank a lot to cover up her true self. We are both sober now!!!

Thank you for sharing,
