Views in my pueblito

Sundays in Colombia are the most peaceful day of the week. At least for me, I can easily assume for those around me.

I stepped outside and stood on my porch, and the only sounds heard were was the wind blowing through the trees, the soft hum of the river below, and a few birds off in the distance.

If you have ever been to Colombia, nothing else, you will understand that it is a country of noise. It is lively, with people talking and the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Typically in my barrio, someone is working on the house next to me, they are in the middle of building a new home, and the other neighbor is adding an addition to the house. Maybe I will hear moto’s zipping up and down the road, with people coming in from town with their daily groceries.

Perhaps I will even hear the children’s laughter from the school down the way, not today.

Today is so silent that you think it’s the last hour before the apocalypse.

It has started to rain; bits of drizzle keep teasing the plants as they wait for their daily…
