in the hospitals we always gave the alcoholics in the hospital a "banana bag" which was just vitamins... but when i saw the long term alcoholics and their memories how bad they were, and they were young patients, it always scared me as well. It's good that we quit.. but you never know with dememtia.. its crazy how it happens.
