Interesting parts of Colombia the news would never highlight

It has been about a week since I talked about how much I love Colombia. Sometimes I think it’s me; it’s in my head, my situation, how being here brings me so much joy.

I just got back from my day of exploring with my new Colombian friends. They are now on their way to Armenia, another city in the coffee region, and I am sitting outside with the most fantastic view, and Brenda, the cat sitting next to me. She has befriended me, along with the dog Cielo. They must know how much I love them back.

We explored Manizales today, enjoying the rain, the clouds, and the insanely charming people. People in Colombia are already lovely and welcoming and Manizales takes it to a whole new level.

I had two exciting things happen today after my friends left me. First, I already know I stand out; I am a gringa.

I sat down to eat lunch, and the waitress took my order and then asked me if I had a 1USD. Usually, you would think, oh…
