I had a job that was slowly killing me for about 8 years. I just assumed it was normal, everywhere would treat me like crap? Wrong!

I am a nurse, I have been a nurse for 18 years.

8 of these years were spent at a hospital, that told me to my face you will not find a better place to work at. This is the best place if you leave you will regret it.

I was young, impressionable, and believed the lies. Your job will always say this, they do not want to lose good employees.

I was miserable, I cried several times after work and before work thinking it has to be better somewhere else. Yet I was scared to take the leap. I was afraid, what if they are right and my new job is worse.

The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t, right? Wrong!

I used to say this all the time. Now I stopped. They were wrong, I finally got the courage to walk away, and never looked back.

Now realizing the hospital that was telling me they were the best, was actually one of the most toxic work environments I have ever worked at.
