Lazy days in Colombia, and three slang words for you to learn
This weekend my boyfriend’s friends are visiting us from Medellin. Monday is a holiday here in Colombia. One of the 18 public holidays, I do not know which one, and he informed me neither does he.
If you have ever been to Colombia, you will notice that it seems like there is always a holiday. All I know is that his friends have off, so they decided to visit the city. My boyfriend is not off, since he works in tourism. He works all the holidays; I think his boss pays him a little more since he knows everyone else is off.
This week in my town was the Las Fiestas Del Agua or The Water Festivals, since I live in the pueblo known for waterfalls and rivers. It is also the Feria de las Flores or The Flower Festival in Medellin. It is an excellent time to be in Colombia, and I sit on my front porch, enjoying the clear skies, warm weather, and cool breeze.
My boyfriend and his friends have been drinking since last night; one of them did wake up not feeling great, which does not surprise me as they did drink enough to kill a full-grown man last night. I will never understand.
