By trade, I am a nurse. I care for the sick — those vulnerable and at a critical point in life. My job and many others on the medical team are to get you healthy, or at least healthy enough to go home.

With that said, we give you instructions on how to take care of yourself after a — — — fill in the blank. Each disease entity has its instructions. If you had a heart attack, we suggest a change in diet; you get the point.

Yet why do we have to wait until we have almost died before we change our life or lifestyle?

When I was young and into my late 30s, I was so optimistic that I would help people get healthy and stay out of the hospital since this is what they said they needed, help.

I would always get asked what I do to stay healthy and disciplined. Eat clean, healthy, green shakes and smoothies, plus a daily workout.

Most would tell me I was crazy and they could NEVER do it; I said no, you can’t if that is what you think. If you think you can, then you can. Thank you, The Little Engine that Could,

I think I can, I think I can.
