October a month demanding me to look inside and ensure I have not lost my way

October has always been one of my favorite months. The chill in the air, the leaving slowly changing colors, the smell of fall. Plus, it is spook month.

Living in a cloud.

For some of us, it is a time to reconnect with our ancestors and our roots. Feel their presence even more potent, especially near the end of the month. Fall often brings a time of preparation for hibernation.

When I moved to LA after many years of living on the east coast, fall became another month, with the weather unchanging. I thought moving to a tropical country would feel the same, another month of gorgeous weather. Yet I was wrong.

The rains have started, and the clouds often have an ominous look. After a few hours of sun in the mid-day, a storm rolls in over the mountains. As if the spirits are whispering, we honor those who came before us. The darkness, a time to go inward, has become part of me again.

Yet, with the going inward, confusion has set in. A realization that the once spiritual practice I once had has fizzled out. My relationship with my ancestors is slowly fading. The connection to self and my body became a distant memory.
