omg haha where is she from?? When i was growing up my parents scolded us when we used the local words, and slang. My father said just because we are living in the woods, and are country bumpkins doesnt mean you act like one. You will speak correctly no matter where you are raised. To this day i make it a habit of saying words correct, and especially learning spanish, i am obsessed with pronouncing it correct. The only problem is now i say some english words incorrect because the better my spanish, the worse my english!!

Yet I do somethign say things in english funny as a joke, but i dont think your friend was joking!
