OMG.. reading this is making me so angry for you... I can not imagine what it is like living where people from the mainland just come to I call it "rape and pillage" what they can take. I hate it.

I went to Hawaii once, I actually felt exactly what you are describing, i haven't returned. It is a beautiful place, yet I love cultures of different places, yet i do not want to partake in the exploitation of cultures for tourism. If it is happening in my town square for cultural purposes its amazing, if it is happening at a restaraunt for a bunch of tourists to gawk at and take selfies and pics, i am not cool with it.

The fact that they complained their vacation was ruined, when a natural disaster hit, is absolutely horrible. I know people who would say this, and it saddens me that they think their vacation is more important that someones life, home or livelihood.

I agree not everyone is like this, its just those bad ones we remember, I hope with what we do can change the future, inspire more conversations about culture, and how to respect other cultures without turning it into a side show at disney land.
