Sunday morning, when we woke up, there was no electricity. I live in a small town in Colombia; for me, this is normal.

The first time it happened, I freaked out. I was angry; I thought, how can this happen. Now I say ok and usually have my backup plan in place.

It was only out for about 36 hours. I now see no electricity as a time for me to decompress and do nothing. I listen to my audiobook or read.

It was bliss.

Then I remember the days before, the good old days when we were not all addicted to our devices. Last night we went to my boyfriend’s mom
in town to get wifi; my boyfriend wanted to get online.

It was an excellent chance to charge my phone since I had a book I wanted to complete. I was hoping the electricity would not be back on until today, yet it was turned on last night when we arrived home.

The only thing about the electricity being out that truly bothers me is the fridge. I don’t like to waste food; we just went to the store the day before. So we brought some to town and stored them with his mother.
