Last weekend I went to a small town called Salamina. It is located in the Caldas region of Colombia, and it was amazing. Salamina is a Heritage Town, one of seventeen.

A Heritage town is recognized for its history, culture, traditions, and community preservation in preserving its heritage.

These towns are typically the ones you see as ¨most beautiful¨ or ¨ best small towns¨; I, too, live in a Heritage town, and it was a huge factor in my buying land here.

The towns are historically preserved and always have a special feeling to them. A step back in time to the past when life was simpler. Which I think helps their tourism appeal.

Salamina, also known as ¨The City of Light, ¨ was no different.
