Small village life, Ushguli, Georgia
I have gone further into the Caucasus Mountains in the upper Svaneti region of Georgia.
I am in the village of Ushguli; it has been recorded as one of Europe’s most remotely inhabited villages.
I am unsure whether Georgia falls under the category of Europe or the correct term; it is a mix of Europe and Asia. It is a small village with medieval towers, and culturally preserved due to the mountains that have served as years of protection.
The village is still only accessible by a four-day hike from Mestia or a Meshuka (bus) or driving, but you must have a 4-wheel drive, or you may get stuck.
The road is bumpy, windy, and today it was rainy, so the road was extra muddy. When we arrived, the driver drove me to my guesthouse and ensured I arrived where I needed to be. We might or might not have plans to go horseback riding to the glacier tomorrow.
As soon as I arrived, I saw a little village, and behind the town was a snow-covered mountain. Cows, pigs, and horses are roaming the street.
