So No One Here Has a ¨Real Job¨

I live in a rural farming community. Yesterday, I met someone who told me ¨so the people here don´t have real jobs?¨

I said yes, they are farmers. They grow coffee, plantains, bananas, yucca.

He still had an odd look on his face, and I said, “No, they do not have a traditional 9–5 job. ”

The people in my community and farmers tend to work harder than most in a 9–5. The cows don´t milk themselves at 6 am.

What would the world look like if farmers did not exist and work as hard as they do? What would we be eating?

I come from a long line of farmers who did what they had to do to put food on the table. They worked long hours, labor-intensive work, with little thanks.

Instead, we complain that they don´t have a ¨real job¨. They have the ultimate job of feeding the people.

No big deal. Insted they should be a paper pusher in an office with no point, most office jobs are bullshit.

Even as an ICU nurse, my job was mostly bullshit, do what the insurance companies demanded or follow the orders of a doctor who was clueless, pass out a pill and this pill to counteract that pill. It was ridiculous.
