Subconscious Fears Come Out in The Strangest Ways

Puppy!

The birds are chirping. The neighbors have been up early doing their daily chores. I am not an early bird; I have never been and probably will never be.

I rolled out of bed at around 9:30 and noticed the dog who lives with me was shaking, which was weird. Maybe she was cold, so I took her into the sun.

Nope, then her head went under my legs, and she continued to shake. I thought she looked scared, not cold, but she is not one to be scared of anything — a natural guard dog.

My roommate goes outside to see if something happened.

The neighbors were bathing their three dogs. She was afraid she was next!

Eventually, at some point, I told her she was being dramatic, and by now, she should know that no one in this house is that motivated to give her a bath at the crack of dawn.

Whatever happened, she eventually stopped shaking, the drama!

Yet we do this all the time, us humans. We imagine the worst-case scenario and do not externally shake as she was, but we get ourselves all worked up to become what I sometimes refer to myself as a basket case.

Last night, I had crippling nightmares. I say crippling because it was one of those dreams where…
