Sometimes, they made up a ghost story; other times, it was a tall tale or a legend they were told as kids. These stories became part of my history, and the legends were part of the region’s culture.

One of my favorite parts of living in another country is learning about the ghost stories, or legends people were told growing up. We were told stories of the boogie man or the ghost car, and in Colombia, they are told stories of La Llorona or El Hombre Caimán.

Stories and legends have always fascinated me, and I often wonder if there is a little truth in the stories being told. The following are a few legends I have heard in Colombia, mainly through my Colombian friends and family.
