The most important relationship is the one with yourself
Even if most do not agree that to be complete, there must be harmony within ourselves, only then will we have a successful relationship with another. Yet what if the other person is unable to find balance within themselves? Do we stick around and wait?
Relationships are hard. I struggle to have a peaceful relationship within myself, let alone add another person to the mix. It is what most of us want; we want the ¨happily ever after¨.
Disney messed with us on that one, yet that is the story we were sold. To have a perfect life and relationship, you must also be exquisite. I grew up watching most movies where the man rescues the woman, and they run off into the sunset. End of story.
I think I was not even a teenager when I knew that was not how life worked. I got a lot of life lessons at a very young age. However, somewhere deep inside me, I did want a happily ever after.
Since in the Disney movies, they did not have children, just two people in love, how hard could that be to find? Even Ariel, a Mermaid, found a prince, and she didn’t even have legs or a voice for half the movie? Right, not that hard?
