This morning, I bought raw dairy milk from my neighbor

I knew nothing about this area when I moved to Jericó in January. I have friends here and live with them at a school outside of town.

I got into the habit of taking the dogs on a daily walk. Walking in the countryside is one of my favorite hobbies, and the dogs seem to enjoy it.

When I walk, I often see my neighbors outside, working or relaxing in their yards. One of my neighbors is a man around 83 years old.

He has a gorgeous finca with cows, bananas, and plantain trees.

One day, as I walked past his farm, he started talking to me.

He has a powerful Paisa accent (the regional dialect here in Antioquia), but we manage to speak, with me asking him to repeat a few words. The first day I met him, he told me his life story, how his wife died many years ago, what all his children do, and that he lives on his farm with his son.

He is always outside caring for his garden or working with the cows. He has a baby cow right now, and he always invites me to look at it as he goes in the stall and shows me the tricks he has taught it!

Yes, he has taught it to stand up on his back; remember, this man is in his 80s.
