5 Safe Colombian Destinations for A Solo Female Traveler

Where I would tell myself to go if I had to pick just 5. I prefer to go off the beaten path a little bit, I will include a few more popular, and a couple of hidden gems.

Tatacoa Desert

It looks like you would expect mars to look. Colombia has two deserts, this is by far my favorite.

There are two parts of the desert, the red desert as pictured above and the grey desert. There is also an observatory with a full presentation of the night sky.

It is very safe, as there are only a few people that venture out there. There is one hostel, with hammocks to sleep in. A tourist shop, and a couple of places for you to get food.

I met two people in the truck to the desert and we hung out the whole weekend! It was one of my favorite places to visit.

It is not easy to find, as you have to take a bus to Neiva, and from here, a bus to Villavieja to the desert.

The trip from Villavieja, to the desert, will most likely be in the back of a pickup truck, very bumpy. Video provided below as an example!
