The question about my childhood has always been, how did you get there, living in the woods of Kentucky?

How did two northern transplants end up in the woods of Kentucky? Were they running? Were they hiding from the government, were they outlaws, or did they want to be left alone?

These questions might always be a mystery. It likely had a little to do with everything, except they were not outlaws at that time.

People who live deep in the woods don’t pry too much, mainly because most didn’t want the question reversed. You would never get an honest answer, so why bother asking.

Privacy is prominent in the boonies, and many people had secrets, maybe moonshiners, bootleggers, marijuana growers, and some yes running from the law.

When you live in the mountains away from society, the fewer questions, the better, accepting people for who they are when you meet them is all you need to know. The past is the past…
