very interesting read. my boyfriend sometimes talks of the troubles of colombia.. but i have to ask him very specific questions so i can learn more.. I think he is like many others they just live in the present and move forward, trying not to remember the past as it is too painful. His mother does share a lot of stories with me of how she grew up in Medellin and it sounds awful. To think now that it is the main tourist attraction in Colombia. I personally do not like Medellin, but that is just me.

It does seem that many have made peace of how it is here and often say "that's just how it is here" haha..

When i think about it, it is sad. Interesting about the military, the other day i asked my bf if he was in the military since i didnt know every male has to.. he said he went to universtiy instead. 10 years later he still has not graduated, as he says that's just how it is here..

I live in one of those ghost towns that you mention, that was destroyed by corruption and wars.. it has rejuvenated itself, but i always feel there is the undertone of remmeberance in some and others want to forget about it..

Interesting read, thank you for sharing.. I hope my articles on colombia ring true, or at least through my eyes. I always check with my boyfriend to make sure I do not cross too many lines, and show an incorrect view of colombia. I do love this country, yet i know how corrupt it is, especially dating a colombian, i see it way differently than if i just was living here and living in Poblado!
