Were instagram filters started by plastic surgeons to boost their income?

A question.

I have recently re-joined Instagram. I have noticed that it is a filter’s paradise, worse than before. I remember before there were a few, but now, damn. It’s on overdrive, and I hate it.

It makes me think that we are afraid to look how we look. I rarely post, but I can guarantee you it will be filter-free.

Why are we afraid to look how we look?

Do you want to look like everyone else?

Are you afraid to show up as yourself?

It is fake; social media is already an artificial representation of who we are; I mean the apps based only on looks and now voices. Thank you, tik tok, for now turning everyone into their version of an AI —
same dances, same face, same voices.

The ones who start a trend are then copied. I get it; why reinvent the wheel, right?

But come on, that means seeing what works and making it your own, not copying the same thing!

Where is the creativity?

The filters, I can not even. They make you look different; one or two can be fun. But every single post!

Are you afraid of being yourself…
