Why Drinking Kombucha Is Not A Deal-Breaker In My Sobriety
Even if it has .5% trace alcohol
If you drink kombucha, are you no longer sober?
When I finally decided that the sober train was the one I would ride for the rest of my life, I read a ton about sobriety. I still read and write about it. It helps remind me of what I do not want to return to.
In the early days of my research, I stumbled upon some writers and bloggers who had mixed reviews about kombucha.
Does anyone else remember the days of the early kombucha influx to Southern California?
It was GT’s. The nurses in my unit used to order it by the case. They would also drink it at work, and I didn’t even think twice about it. It was a sparkly probiotic drink marketed as non-alcohol, yet it did contain a trace amount of .5%.
What is Kombucha?
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Kombucha tea is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar, bacteria, and yeast.” They also state that the health benefit claims are not backed up by science. Yet, with anything, you will find those who swear by the probiotic benefits and those who can’t stand the vinegar taste.
