Why I Chose To Homestead in Colombia

When I tell people I live in Colombia, I often get a blank stare, or even someone comments, yea, South Carolina is a nice place to live. I look at them and say, no, the country in South America.

Then I got another look, one of disbelief and fear. The next question is, naturally, isn’t it dangerous there? However, this article is not about whether or not Colombia is dangerous; since I bought a house here, you probably already know my answer and would assume the person asking would put two and two together.

This article is about why I decided to settle and homestead in Colombia. I chose to live abroad for many reasons, and one of them is that I can have everything I want.

Many people from the US are deciding to move abroad, and immigration and moving to other countries has been part of civilization for centuries. People on the other side of the world wanted something different, and so did I.

Yet, I also wanted ease.
