Does anyone else hate being told what to do by influencers to be successful?

“Don’t give up on your dreams so soon, sleep longer.” — Anonymous

When I was in high school, I learned how to get ready for school in less than 15 minutes. I always showered the night before, and the only thing I had to do when I woke up was eat, dress, and brush my teeth.

Every morning before school, my grandmother would wake us up. She would yell up the stairs. “kid’s, get up.” I would never move; I knew that from the time she yelled for us to get up, I had 15 minutes of more sleep.

There were 3 of us that had to use the bathroom and get ready. I always told my siblings to go first, and I was the oldest and, therefore, the boss. When my grandmother would yell up the stairs the next time, I knew I had to get up.

If she threatened to walk up the stairs and use my full name, “Sara Alice, get out of bed right this minute before I come up these stairs,” I knew that was the time I would get up, and I was in trouble.

I was a pain in the ass teenager; what can I say. My grandmother had terrible knees so that she couldn’t walk up the stairs…
