Why I Will Never Be Vegan Unless I Get A New Body

Even by taking baby steps, my body fights back.

Last week I went to the doctor after not seeing one for two years. I am an excellent patient working in healthcare and have a family history of ovarian cancer.

At least for my gynecologist. She said to see me every six months; I was there. She said every year I was there. I had good insurance, and it was easy.

Any other doctor, no way, no how. I went to a primary care doctor once in my 20s, found out that I have genetically high cholesterol said thank you, and did not visit another primary care until 2019.

She was a gynecologist, but when I mentioned I had a history of high cholesterol, she said we are doing all your blood work. I loved the doctor’s one-stop-shop. My regular visits to the gynecologist stopped when the pandemic made visiting a doctor difficult.

I took a two-year break. Being a nurse, I assumed that I was dying in two years. Why? I am a hypochondriac, considering I have developed a rare form of table’s disease; yes, I made it up because that is what I do.

Ok, so before I tell you my motivating factor for visiting a doctor last week, I want to discuss a few things. Except for my brief affair with alcohol, I have been a health fanatic.
