yep. I started really writing mid october, and then november full time daily writing. I had two articles that i self published go "semi-viral" both not distributed.

I do a few publications.. but yea my two big breaks were both self published. I think it is why i am such an advocate for it.

To be honest, in the beginning is what i did was daily write, submit to one publication a week, and respond to every single comment, which i still do.

I also used to go to every person who commented and read an article of theirs. This created a community for me, as well as I knew who was reading me, and that is how i think i grew so fast. It is a lot of work, but it has paid off..

I now don't read every article by every commenter, honestly i try but i some days have over 500 notifications so i read the bios, and if we have similar interests i read their stories.. like i think its why i went to your page, i liked your vibe, your content.. etc.. and then grow ur audience that way. More work.. but it is worth it..

ha sorry this was a lot.. but before medium i never wrote anything. you can totally do it, oh and use headline analyzer (over 70) and the more controversial, the more reads!! my virals where why i dont want kids, and regrets of the dying.

You totally can do it. You already know your craft. Hope this helps:) Always feel free to reach out if you have questions also.
