Yes.. Tattacoa Desert is one of my favorite places, its so cool.

Bogota is a cool city, but it is also very dark, rainy and cold. Its ok for a few days, but not to live.

There are so many nice places you could get a home base, Manizales, Santa marta, Bucaramunga are cities but smaller. Or you can choose a small pueblo, I live in a tiny tiny pueblo and pay around 70 a month to rent a house in the mountains, surrounded by rivers, and 4 hours from medellin via bus that goes straight to the city when i need to go. The bus system here is super easy, and cheap.
