How cute is that cat?

We women are only babymakers, as we were made to believe we were in the early 1900s or before. When our husbands made the decisions for us, we were essentially property once we were married. If you were an unwed woman during these times, you were a witch or a spinster.

Then, when the 80s and 90s rolled around, women who chose not to have children were threatened to become cat women. It is as if that was the ultimate putdown, and apparently, it is coming back.

Since when did loving animals, especially cats, become a bad thing?

I remember being told multiple times that I better settle down and have kids or end up an old spinster and, gasp, a cat lady.

It could be much worse; I could have kids and regret having them. Then I would have been a mother who regretted having children; what a horrible life for me and my poor, nonexistent children.

In my teens, I was told my only purpose was to get married and have children, at least by one side of my family. Fortunately, the other side…
